Dresscode
Dress Code
During certain BIL activities, participants will be asked to adhere to certain dress codes. We do this because we want to project professionalism to the people and organizations we come into contact with. Additionally, the dress code is present to respect the various norms regarding what it means to be dressed decently as best as possible. For BIL, this is important to maintain its good relationships with partners and to be taken seriously by others. The dress code is designed so that everyone is dressed appropriately and also knows what this entails. We want to be consistent with the dress code so that the same rules apply to everyone, but this also means that we sometimes have to be strict about what is and is not allowed. We have an informal, business-casual, and formal dress code. When and if a dress code applies to an activity, it will be communicated to the participants in advance.
Informal
There are no restrictions for the informal dress code. However, we hope that you will not dress in a way that could harm the reputation of the B.I.L.
Business-casual
Bottoms: Neat trousers, such as dress pants or chinos, in a solid color, without any rips or holes. Jeans are not allowed.
A neat skirt, also in a solid color, is allowed. It must fall below the knees, even when seated, and should not have high slits.

Tops: A solid-colored shirt or blouse, which must be tucked into the trousers or skirt. Sleeves should not be rolled up, and shoulders must be covered.
A dress or jumpsuit that meets the same requirements for both tops and bottoms is also allowed.

Shoes: Neat shoes, such as loafers, lace-up shoes (no sneakers), or ankle boots. Ankle boots must be closed, with or without a heel. Lace-up boots (like Dr. Martens) are not allowed.
Details: The outfit is worn with a B.I.L. tie and/or pin.

Formal
For formal attire, a solid-colored two-piece suit is required. It should be dark in color (black, grey, navy, etc.), and the jacket and trousers must be the same color. A white or light blue shirt is worn underneath the suit. The shirt must be tucked into the trousers and buttoned all the way up. A t-shirt is not allowed. This is combined with dark, high socks, which must be long enough to ensure that the ankles are not visible when seated. The same rules for shoes as in business-casual apply. A properly knotted B.I.L. tie or pin is worn with the suit.

t is also possible to opt for a skirt. The same requirements apply as in business-casual. A shirt or blouse is worn with this, following the same rules as with a suit. With open shoes, such as loafers, no socks are worn, or the socks are not visible (pantyhose, invisible socks, etc.). A B.I.L. pin is worn with this outfit.
As a final option, a dress can be worn. The same requirements as in business-casual apply here. In this case, no socks are worn with open shoes (or they must be invisible), and a B.I.L. pin is worn.
B.I.L. Tie and Pin
The B.I.L. tie and pin can be purchased at the B.I.L. room at the Wijnhaven location in The Hague. The price of a tie is €10.00, and a pin costs €3.50.
