The B.I.L.

What is the B.I.L?

In 1984, the Public Administration program was established at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Leiden University. Public Administration is an interdisciplinary science that deals with the theoretical aspects and practical skills of public administration and its environment. On May 22, 1985, the Leiden Public Administration Interfaculty Association (B.I.L.) was founded. The association has approximately 1200 members. As a study association, B.I.L. plays a central role in the Public Administration program. It serves as a link between the students and the institute. Additionally, it aims to keep the study engaging for students by organizing various activities that introduce them to the professional field they will enter later. Furthermore, B.I.L. provides opportunities for students to get to know their peers better and develop organizational skills through participating in activities or performing committee or board work.

On the left in the overview, you will find our boards, committees, and other useful information about our study association.

The B.I.L. is nationally united with eleven other associations in the National Consultation Body for Public Administration Associations (LOB). The LOB is the platform for all public administration study associations in the Netherlands. The LOB represents the twelve associations (~12,500 students) at the national level, including those from studies in public administration, technical public administration, legal public administration, and public and organizational sciences. Additionally, each year, the National Congress of Public Administration is organized by one of these member associations. Additionally, the B.I.L. also collaborates with other Leiden associations through platforms such as the Study Association Consultation Platform (StOP). The StOP is the consultation body for all study associations related to programs at Leiden University and Leiden University of Applied Sciences.
